Our students have access to the latest technology to conduct any number of qualitative and quantitative social research projects. Students can check out cameras, video recorders, and audio recorders as part of their research projects. In addition, students can analyze the data they collect utilizing programs like Qualtrics, NVivo, and SPSS, among others. We also have three computers set aside with transcription machines to enter information from qualitative interviews!
Faculty from anthropology and sociology are involved in many different research projects. You should take some time to learn about the kinds of research that interests you and ask a professor how you can get involved! These centers give you the space and the resources you need to be part of the research process. Being part of these kinds of projects is great for your resume and, in many cases, you may be able to get course credit for your work!
