Department of Sociology and Anthropology

Engage with a diverse world

Missouri State's department of sociology and anthropology offers majors and minors for students interested in culture, collaboration and community issues.

Study anthropology

Anthropologists seek to understand the many varied peoples and cultures of the world — past and present — and how they came to be. We offer a major and minor for students interested in better understanding our diverse world.

Learn about public sociology

Missouri State is one of very few universities that offer an emphasis in public sociology, which focuses on community engagement. Our program integrates sociological skills into course work and research, providing opportunities to work with local organizations.
