Before coming to Missouri State University in the fall of 1999, Dr. Walker-Pacheco taught for several years at California State University-Sacramento and at Humboldt State University, where she worked closely with the Coroner's Office on numerous cases involving skeletal remains. She has taught primatology and ecology in a field school for students in Costa Rica.

Dr. Walker-Pacheco has published primarily on the locomotor behavior, ecology, and evolution of New World monkeys, but also has research interests in forensic anthropology and medical anthropology. Currently, she is conducting a study of the health and medical needs of Hispanic immigrants in southwest Missouri.  She teaches ANT 125 (The Human Story), ANT 227 (Biological Anthropology), ANT 365 (Human Variation), ANT 370 (The Living Primates), ANT 375 (Human Evolution), and ANT 363 (Survey of Forensic Anthropology).
